Building on his previous experience, Cédric Chevalley, a talented and inventive designer, was able to bring the ring “mood” to life. This refined transformation of the modern jewel, which he markets under his own label “cbijoux“, is at the same time the realisation of a radical aesthetics, the carrier of individual imagination and an original means of expression.
Everything started with an idea that emerged between Lausanne and Paris during a not so exciting train journey. This simple yet ground breaking innovative concept preoccupied Cédric’s imagination immediately and so he decided to realise it: create a ring with a very minimalist aesthetic but countless possibilities to personalise it.
Once the first sketches were scribbled as original prototype in his notebook the different stages quickly followed on another because this jewel in the making imposed itself with such obviousness that the project was only waiting to become reality.
Yet, a couple of answers to several technical constraints still had to be found. And so they were… and so “mood” was born. A ring so special, so individual that you can adapt it to your every mood! Different every day, funny, sexy or spiritual: how ever you feel, you can adapt your ring accordingly.
At first you see a structure with clear and balanced characteristics. Its pure character is emphasised by a very modern play with the opposites: a peculiar liaison of the force of steel and the delicacy of glass or whatever other material you choose for your “add-on”.
And this is the what makes “mood” so special: a skilful technical procedure, that allows you to change your ring endlessly. A simple movement and the central ring, the “add-on”, can be changed according to your moods and desires. One piece of jewellery, but countless possibilities!
Androgynous
Intended for women as well as men in its basic version, the ring can however accommodate materials of different kinds or carry ornaments that give him a feminine or masculine touch.
Genesis
mood’s design and the principle of “interchangeability” came to Cedric’s mind after several years of creating jewellery. It was an obvious result of his research: a concept that allows the owner of a “mood” ring to live, to grow with it and to make it evolve with their personality. Quite simply a piece of jewellery that can be adapted to the personality of its owner and that accompanies him or her throughout their walk of life.
Structure and technical savviness
The particular architecture of the ring gives its owner great liberty as he can easily change the look of his jewellery in changing the “add-on”. In order to extend the potential of mood even further, middle-rings in different colours and materials are available. A patent for the concept has been registered and is pending.
Circularity and movement
The ring which sits on the steel structure invites to tactile pleasures; the fingers begin to play, explore the different textures and accompany the perpetual motion of the add-on.
